The Near the mountains signal uses whichcity.eu's fixed 50 km access threshold. The EEA defines the mountain polygons from altitude, slope, climate and local terrain variation; it does not define this proximity threshold. Straight-line distance is not travel time, trail access, elevation or a view from the city.
